Dave Crossland - SWRFA, Club Passim, iTunes, Chicago, Wisconsin, Boston and Colorado
Gracious people and adoring fans everywhere,
Got some nifty stuff to share with you about SWRFA, Club Passim, iTunes, live radio appearances, and gigs....
SWRFA
First off, thanks to everyone at the Southwest Regional Folk Alliance conference in Austin last weekend. I had tremendous fun stealing Amy Speace's band (including Amy) for my official showcase (and others) and playing through that glorious sound system. Things could not have gone better. You all were wonderful, and thank you so much for all the enthusiasm, positivity and Texas-sized love. Can't wait till NERFA in November...
CLUB PASSIM
Okay, so you know how I said things went great at SWRFA and I stole Amy's band? Well, next week, on Oct 12, I'm playing Club Passim in Cambridge --splitting the bill with none other than Amy Speace and said glorious band. People, I mean to say this is gonna be fun. We're going to be singing on each other's stuff and we'll have some great musicians backing us up and who knows what will happen next. Passim is also a great, historic listening room and has been a home for me in many ways, so if you find yourself in or near Boston next week, this will be the place to be. Hope to see you there!
iTUNES, BABY
Oh yeah. We are so on it.
If you have iTunes on your computer just type my little ole' name in the "search music store" box and hit return. I am looking at it right now and it's beautiful. (I'm not kidding, I was about to write this newsletter and just now tried my name on iTunes for the very first time, not knowing if they had it set up yet.) There's a picture of the album cover, and four of the songs --count them: 4-- have maxed out the popularity meter. (Dang, I hope that means something...) O man, check this out. I click on the album picture and there's more info, including customer reviews. An average rating of five --count them: 5-- stars! Ah, I see, there's only one review. It's titled, "Madison Rose is one of the best songs I've ever heard" and it's written by Anonymous. Anonymous, can I just thank you personally, right now? This is the best review I've ever had on iTunes and I am deeply touched. Please, Anonymous, feel free to stop by and say hello anytime, and may I suggest a career in graffiti? I can see it now, rave reviews on public buildings and private property everywhere. Thank you, Anonymous, thank you.
By the way, if you don't have iTunes, you can download it for free at http://www.apple.com/itunes/download
