Dave Crossland - Writin', Recordin' & Giggin' in the Summertime...

Hello you beautiful people of this amazing world, are you diggin summer like I am right now?  This IS my favorite time of year~

So I got some stuff to tell you about some gigs just past, more on the way, and a little recording that I've been doing.

BB's

BB King's was awesome.  (Check out the picture on the front page of my website... http://www.davecrossland.com)  That has got to be one of the coolest rooms I've ever played, and John's Waite's audience was incredibly fun and very good to me, as was John himself.  What a great guy and I was groovin' to his music.  Not only that, the people I encountered working at the venue were top notch and just so welcoming.  Never had a gig in Times Square before and can't wait to do it again!  Thanks to all of you who came to the show.  I had a frikkin' ball!

PHILLY, SLAID, AND A FESTIVAL THIS WEEKEND

The World Cafe was great too.  I had never been to WXPN before and wow, what a great setup!  (I highly recommend the grilled salmon from the band menu...)  It was great to hear people put their forks down and listen to me and my Gibson, and Slaid Cleaves did an awesome set.  Will be looking forward to meeting up with him again this weekend at the Great Waters Festival in New Hampshire.  For all of you who will be within striking distance of Wolfeboro this weekend, I highly recommend this fest.  Check out the lineup:

Jonathan Edwards

Greg Brown

Slaid Cleaves

The Roches

Anais Mitchell

Chris Smither

Alison Brown

Northern Lights

David Jacobs-Strain and more

Great music in a beautiful spot on Lake Winnipesaukee, and the festival itself is small and manageable enough to get up close and really see the performers.

LIVE RECORDING

So did I mention a little bit of recording?...

About a week or so ago, I went into the studio with the band I took down Texas for the Kerrville Festival back in June.  Remember that one?  We had an awesome spot on the mainstage, right before the headliner, but the powers of the universe had other things in mind, like dust, wind, lightning and rain. Major bummer, but we did have an awesome sound check (which apparently grows more famous by the minute) and an ensuing invitation from our good friend and relentless supporter, Neale Eckstein, to record the set that never happened at Fox Run studios.

Well, good people, about a week ago we set it up and laid it down live --no overdubbing allowed-- and it came out beautiful and real and we may have something to share with you in the not-so-distant future, so stay tuned. And give a huge thanks to Neale and the guys in the band, Jimmy Ryan, Rich Feridun, Marc Hickox, and Mike Piehl, for making it happen!

GIGS ON THE WAY

Got a few below to tell you about.  And Jake Kennedy of Wanderlust Touring is doing a stellar job adding gigs all the time some on very short notice, so be sure to check in on the website.  That said, I'm planning to take a little time out this month to surround myself with a few mountains and do some writing.  Yes indeed, there are a bunch of new songs that have been waiting for me to finish them, and its time to be one with the muse...

In the meantime, I hope you all are taking in a glorious summer.  Thank you so much for your unwavering support.  Thanks also to Mary Pittari, my awesome manager, and Jake for helping me jack up my frequent flyers and the miles on my car!

See you out there somewhere soon!

With love and the sweet sweet sounds of summer,

Dave
